Our Topic this Term
This half term we are learning all about arctic animals. This week we have been making artic animals, polar bears, orca whales, walrus' and snowy owls. During continuous provision we have had to investigate how to free animals that have been frozen in big blocks of ice, make igloos, measure different sized polar bears and complete lots of arctic maths activities. We have also written lists, labels and captions using our phonics knowledge.
We are working so hard!
These are some of the facts we have learned this week, the children said...
"Polar bears swim in water to catch their breakfast".
"Snowy owls sleep on rocks because there are no trees in the Arctic."
"Arctic hares are grey in the summer because they cannot be seen by the rocks and in winter their fur turns white so they can't be seen in the snow."
"Penguins do not live in the North Pole."

In our 2's Room we have been learning about Winnie the Witch and pumpkins. The children enjoyed using the tweezers to pick the bats up and put them in the cauldron.
The children enjoyed using the pumpkins in different ways after scooping the seeds out and making sensory bags. They used the chalks to mark make and draw faces on the pumpkins, using their physical skills the used different tools to squash the beans to see how they changed shape.
