Happy New Year

5/1/2018

How wonderful to see the children return back to school after the excitement of their Christmas break.  They have been full of stories of meeting with family and gifts they have received.
It is important to remember at this time the greatest gifts they have received are their talents, our children have such a range of skills and excel in a variety of ways.  It is a true privilege to be able to witness them grow in maturity and develop academically each day in school.
Attendance is so important and your child being in school every day is a must.  We understand from time to time children may be ill and absence unavoidable at these times.
Our attendance percentage dropped for the first time in three years  last year, this was disappointing.  We will always encourage children to come to school and we have a number of rewards planned for children over the year when they achieve 100% attendance for a term, two terms or even the whole year!
Equally, if your child's attendance falls below 90% over a period of time, we will monitor this more closely- we will invite you to come and speak to me, but ultimately if no improvements are made, the case will be referred to the Education Welfare Officer.
As a school we want your child to be the very best they can be, academically and socially.  This cannot be achieved when your child does not attend school regularly.
