October 2020

23/4/2020

Dear Parents
We are now in our last week of this half term and I must mention about how well the children have returned to school after their extended COVID break.  They have all settled back into school life, reminding us how hard they work and how much they enjoy spending time with their friends.  Although school may be different to what they are used to (with us working in bubbles), there is still a buzz in each classroom and happy children eager to share their work with you.
I cannot commend the children and the staff for the way they have embraced all of the changes and strive for a safe and happy school.
I would also like to thank parents for adhering to the many new rules we have in place in school such as one way systems and staggered collection times.  You have all accepted these new procedures.  It is important also to remember the social distancing rules with fellow parents,  when picking up your children.
We do gather together as a whole school community for our weekly celebration assemblies and it is lovely to allow the children to see into each others classrooms.  We have a virtual whole school harvest festival on Wednesday morning and I look forward to another opportunity for our school family to come together.
Thank you all for your continued support
May God bless you
Mrs Faulkner

New decade....

10/1/2020

As we move into a new decade we look to the future and all the wonderful things we have to look forward to.  Over 30 of our children are off next week to the Genting arena as part of the Young Voices concert.  The children have been attending for quite a few years now and really enjoy the whole experience of performing to a huge crowd alongside many other young people.
Also in January, we have a Science partnership day with our partnership schools of St Gabriels, St Elizabeths and St Josephs.  Some of our Y4/5 children will be involved in worshops provided by Keele university and will work together with children from our partnerships schools in this experience.
Our new classroom is due to be completed at the end of January, and then some of our year groups will move into their new classrooms, which they are very excited about!
This will then give us the opportunity to develop the existing Y4/5 class into a multipurpose room with space for small group intervention, Nurture sessions and sensory experience.  This will greatly benefit our pupils in having a quiet breakout space to work in.  I look forward to sharing i all your child's achievements over the next calendar year and lok forward to sharing more news with you as the year progresses.

Welcome back

13/9/2019

Welcome back to our new school Year. The nursery and reception children have started this week and settled commendably well.
The children have been voting in class to choose their school council represenatatives and our Head boy and girl.  I am really looking forward to being able to announce the successful candiates in next weeks assembly.
We send out a weekly newsletter by text to all parents, please do take the time to read the newsletter, it keeps you up to date with events happening in school as well as important information and key dates.
We have a lot coming up in the next few weeks such as reading workshops, an INSPIRE event and our annual McMillan coffee morning.  We really appreciate your attendance at these events to help support the children and their learning.
Friday morning celebration assemblies are open to all parents, please,  if you can,  join us, Friday is a lovely opportunity to acknowledge all the hard work, effort and enthusiasm the children put into their school lives.
The PTFA is currenlty looking to increase its memebers, we need parental help to ensure that events can happen in school, if you can help please do let us know at the school office.  As a small school the funds our PTFA raise are vital to us helping to enrich the learning for all of our children.
Thank you for your contniued support and I look forward to sharing in further adventures.

Autumn term 2018

1/10/2018

It's wonderful to see all our children back to school looking so smart.  It is also a privilege to welcome our new children to school.  Our school family looks forward to sharing our faith, love and knowledge.
I am delighted that our school is growing and more and more children are joining us at SS Peter and Paul.  It does mean that quite a few of our year groups are now fully subscribed.  Our Nursery unit is also becoming extremely busy and places are limited.  Please do enquire at the school office for primary places and with Mrs Ansell our Nursery manager for nursery places.
It was great to see how successful our Year six class were in their SATS.  100% of the class gained at least expected standard in Reading and 88% gained at least expected standard maths and writing.  This puts us at least 10% above national and is testimony to the hard work and passion to succeed from our children and staff.
We have set our new priorities for school development this year.  Some of our points are fed from our recent GOOD Ofsted report and others come from our review of school development from staff, governors, children and parental questionnaires.
Our New school development priorities can be viewed in the school development plan section of this website.
I look forward to working with you over the next year to provide the best educational experience for your children, here at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Primary School.
God Bless
Mrs C Faulkner

Spring term

15/3/2018

Well what a busy spring term we have had.  Ofsted called in early February and we were pleased with the comments made by the inspector about our school.  We are immensely proud of our school community.  Our children work so hard and are kind and considerate to all.  It truly is a pleasure to be the head teacher of such a caring and hardworking school family.
Our Y3 children made their first confession alongside the Y3 pupils from St Josephs. They were very reverent and it was an honour to be able to share this special sacrament with them.  We keep them in our prayers as they prepare to receive Holy Communion in May.
Our sporting teams have been busy partaking in a range of sports and enjoying success.  Catch our sports news page for more details.
We have also hosted our successful INSPIRE science workshop with parents.  It was truly lovely to be able to see the children eager at work with the help of so many adults.  Thank you to all those who were able to join us.
The children have all been out and about enjoying trips such as Erasmus Darwin house and Wade street church.  There are more trips planned for our summer term including the Y6 residential at Standon Bowers.  Can I remind all parents to keep up to date with school news by reading our weekly newsletter.

Happy New Year

5/1/2018

How wonderful to see the children return back to school after the excitement of their Christmas break.  They have been full of stories of meeting with family and gifts they have received.
It is important to remember at this time the greatest gifts they have received are their talents, our children have such a range of skills and excel in a variety of ways.  It is a true privilege to be able to witness them grow in maturity and develop academically each day in school.
Attendance is so important and your child being in school every day is a must.  We understand from time to time children may be ill and absence unavoidable at these times.
Our attendance percentage dropped for the first time in three years  last year, this was disappointing.  We will always encourage children to come to school and we have a number of rewards planned for children over the year when they achieve 100% attendance for a term, two terms or even the whole year!
Equally, if your child's attendance falls below 90% over a period of time, we will monitor this more closely- we will invite you to come and speak to me, but ultimately if no improvements are made, the case will be referred to the Education Welfare Officer.
As a school we want your child to be the very best they can be, academically and socially.  This cannot be achieved when your child does not attend school regularly.

A lot to celebrate.

2/11/2017

What a busy first half term we have had.  The children have to be commended with the way they have settled into their new classes and are applying themselves so well to the challenges set.
We have had our author visit from Billy Bob Buttons, and the children had an opportunity to write with him in two workshops.  We also had a visit to school all about World War 2, our visitors talked about experiences of their own families and brought the topic alive for the children.
Our Y2/3 class visited the Library for a workshop about WW1 and two of our classes visited Warwick Castle.
Our Y6 children also went to Alton Castle for a retreat day all about their upcoming Confirmation.
It has certainly been a very busy half term.
We have lots planned for the second part of our Autumn term and I know the children will be looking forward to the festive elements on the calendar. please keep checking our weekly newsletter for details of upcoming events.

Welcome back

14/9/2017

Welcome back to our new school year.  The children have returned to school looking so smart. I'm so pleased to see no trainers being worn, just smart, black, school appropriate schools.
The children have really impressed us in their first few weeks back, they have been working very hard, impressing teachers new and old.  It makes me very proud.
The children  have been busy electing our school council this week and I'm looking forward to announcing names in Assembly, alongside out head boy and girl.
I would also like to congratulate all those children who successfully completed the Library reading challenge during the summer. Fantastic to see children with a love of reading and practice over the holidays makes them even better readers when they return to school in September.
We are introducing some new reading rewards this year as we want to encourage our children to read regularly at home and school.  Watch our newsletter for further information.

Summer Time

14/7/2017

As our summer term comes close to it's close it is a good time to reflect on the school year.  We have much to celebrate as a school, with many sporting achievements: our Y5/6 football team as district champions, our Y3/4 hockey team as district champions and third in county.
Our academic achievements with children working hard and trying their best in all aspects of the curriculum.
We really are proud of the achievements of the children, their attitude to school

Spring!

2/3/2017

It's hard to believe we are already in March!  Such a lot happened in the previous half term. From attending the Young Voices concert in the Genting arena, to our INSPIRE workshop on love.  Thank you parents who help us to allow these events to take place your support is always welcomed.
Today is world book day and it's wonderful to see our children dressed as their favourite character.  Mrs Ryan as Miss Trunchbull is quite fantastic!
In this Lenten term we will spend some time reflecting and considering how we can make right choices and help others.  Our Y5/6 class will present the Stations of the Cross in the last week of term and as always you are more than welcome to join us.
Please keep checking on our website and newsletter for up to date information.
