Welcome to Year 4 and 5
Our classroom encourages inclusion for all, celebrates success and mistakes as this is how we can learn. We follow our School Mission Statement to "learn, pray and live together in a safe and happy way". We embrace a culture of mutual respect and kindness to others and always try our best!
We have an interesting and varied timetable in 2025-2026
Our Enrichment topics this year include the following;-
History - WW2, Railways, Anglo-Saxons
Geography - All around the world, Somewhere to settle, Water
Art - Seaside art, William Morris printing, Anglo-Saxon art
DT - Making an instrument, Making a rocket, Making bread
The children love parents taking part in their learning journey. Please see our Inspire pages for our most recent parent workshops,
We try and link all of our English work to our topic and science work, this year we will be covering a variety of texts including Mousehole cat, Seaside Poetry, The Lion and the unicorn, War poetry, Polar Express, Railway children, Tin Forest, Here We are, Armstrong (Journey of a mouse to moon) .
Our children love Maths. In Year 4 the children have a National Times Table Test in June, so it is really important that the children know all of their times tables. This will really help them as they eventually move on to Year 5/6. Please see our homework pages for links to useful on line platforms.
In Science this year we are learning about Sound, States of Matter, Space, Reproduction of plants and animals and Life Cycles.
We have a varied PE provision. Indoor PE is on Wednesday afternoon (except the summer term when we have Swimming on a Tuesday) and outdoor PE is on a Thursday afternoon. Please ensure that the children are dressed in the appropriate kit and have appropriate footwear.
Reading books are changed weekly on a Monday and Homework is handed out on a Friday.
